Starz Ordered ‘The Hunting Wives’ Series with Rebecca Cutter as Showrunner

Starz Gives Green Light to “The Hunting Wives” Series with Eight Episodes

Starz has officially granted a series order for “The Hunting Wives,” consisting of eight episodes. This adaptation of May Cobb’s bestselling novel shares the tale of Sophie O’Neil and her family, who relocate from the East Coast to East Texas. There, Sophie encounters socialite Margo Banks, becoming ensnared in Margo’s irresistible allure, leading to a web of obsession, seduction, and murder.

Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for Starz, described “The Hunting Wives” as a thrilling, suspenseful, and enticing journey. She expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Rebecca and Erwin on this captivating series that aligns with Starz’s portfolio of edgy, female-centric premium content.

This announcement follows the recent cancellations of several Starz shows, including “Run the World,” “Heels,” and “Blindspotting,” effectively streamlining the programming slate. Notably, “The Venery of Samantha Bird” was canceled before its Season 1 premiere due to a production halt caused by the WGA strike.

Rebecca Cutter, known for “Hightown,” serves as the executive producer, showrunner, and writer for “The Hunting Wives.” Erwin Stoff (“The Serpent Queen”) also executive produces for 3 Arts Entertainment. Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment support the production, with oversight from Alex Alberts and Tara Roy, directors of original programming, and Christina Jokanovich, Senior Vice President of Original Programming at Starz. Scott Herbst and Courtney Mock will oversee on behalf of Lionsgate Television.
